YouTube: Manuel Noriega: CIA Involvement and Drug Trafficking

Thank author of this post/commentOctober 20, 1989 www.amazon.com Watch the full program: thefilmarchived.blogspot.com Manuel Antonio Noriega (born February 11 1934) is a former general and the military dictator of Panama from 1983 to 1989. He was never, contrary to popular opinion, officially the president of Panama, but held the post of "chief executive officer" for a brief period in 1989. The 1989 invasion of Panama by the United States removed him from power; he was captured, detained as a prisoner of war, and flown to the US Noriega was tried on eight counts of drug trafficking, racketeering, and money laundering in April 1992. Noriega's US prison sentence ended in September 2007; pending the outcome of extradition requests by both Panama and France, he remains in prison as of 2009. Noriega worked with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) from the late 1950s to the 1980s, and was on the CIA payroll for much of this time, although the relationship had not become contractual until 1967. Nonetheless, he retained US support until February 4, 1989, when the Drug Enforcement Administration indicted him on federal drug charges. On February 25, President Eric Arturo Delvalle issued a decree declaring that Noriega was relieved of his duties. Noriega ignored the decree, but instead instructed the National Assembly, dominated by the PRD, to remove Delvalle from office; Delvalle fled the country. I can't believe the numerous issues occurring in my society about drug trafficking. The worse is that most leaders of these drug trafficking are those who have high positions in the government or respected officials. Manuel Noriega has been into a lot of controversies about drug trafficking and I don't how he can get rid of it because he lost people's trust. Will there be an end to this illegal activity?

We cannot blame those people who wants those corrupt and law violators to be out on public office. I am not surprised to see thousands of people rallying on streets hoping to have a new leadership that is good and would bring the country to the best of what it can be. I just wish that those politicians who are only aiming for the money of the people would all disappear.

Hi there!

I really hat drug trafficking. It really pollutes the lives of other people especially those youth. The government really should give enough emphasis on that matter. Much law should be made in this matter. I hope I can help others in my own simple way.

Thanks you so much to all of you guys and have a great day to all!

The place Panama is one of the places I really love to be with. The program they have regarding the Drug Trafficking matter is really a frustrating thing to have. I hope, people in the position in this place would really take necessary step in pointing out the things under this area. I hope it will be possible to be in that area as soon as possible in the future

It is interesting to see differing sides to this account, as the consensus is not always clear in this kind of situation. I read a book that said this whole situation, including the war, happened as a last resort when the cia's methods of getting a country to agree on certain terms didn't work, they had to come to more drastic measures. While the charges on Noriega may have been legit, you don't invade a country just for drug traffic. My two cents.
