is there a parrasite problem with the water and the food? What is a reasonable 4 star hotel in panama city in a good location and where to stay in Boquette and david?

Mr. ArtMan from Sunny South what made you say ask if whether there is a parasite problem with the water and the food in Panama or not? What do you think of Panama, a country with unsanitized infrasturctures? Come on.

I would do a web search on each of the ways of travel and see which one would be cheaper. I would think that taking a shuttle bus would be, but I would double check to make sure.

ArtManI would fly to David as I have been told that the border is really a pain in the Bu__. I have been told that you can really be hassled at the border. Also, we have traveled to David and Boquete several times. We always stay at Gran Hotel Nacional in David. Nice, clean but not 4 star. We never have reservation when we go to Boquete, never needed them. Lots of nice places to stay. Google "hablayapanama" You will get a complete list of hotels. Valle Escondido is very nice and expensive. On the road up to Valle Escondido is a new hotel with a Italian restuarant and wine bar with great rooms and nice beds for half the price as Escondido. We always stay there. Pay around 65. usd a night. 4 star. Hope this helps

Of course you do least expect a good hotel in Panama and other reasonable services. I doubt whether poster # 1 had any due consideration in mind. If you are choosing a mode of transport, it all depends on what you are looking for either in speed or reliabilty. The distance too would determine your choice. If you do extensive internet searches, you will not miss a lead or two to bus or taxi companies

Transportation in Panama is fairly well developed. The majority of trips are done by car. There is however a need for improvement and modernization of the public transport system. Panama's roads, traffic and transportation systems are generally safe, but traffic lights do not exist in most cases, even at busy intersections.
Driving is said to be harzadous due to the dense traffic besides there being undisciplined driving habits and poorly maintained streets.

I have been on the David to San Jose bus many times. David is not such a large place, so you can easily ask around to get to the bus depot. These are the large, comfortable busses, sometimes air conditioned. Otherwise you can get on a "voladora", a medium sized bus that takes around 50 or 60 passengers. And man, they fly! Cheaper but possible dangerous.
Watch out! Good luck.

Panama has an adequate network of roads which you can use to explore the country. There is a total of 11, 258 km of highways in Panama. Therefore, once you reach Panama, you can rent a car from among the many car rental agencies available especially in Panama City. This would give you the independence to go at will where you want to go. Most of these roads though are unpaved so you may be in for a rough ride. If you plan to go on a cross country drive, it would be better to rent an automobile with off-roading capabilities. If you wish to get an eyeful of the countryside while not having to mind your own car, you can choose to buy train tickets instead.

Panama is one of the nicest place to visit and take a great vacation. Modes of transportation in this place are plenty. You can rent cars, or try the bus. But i suggest that you try to to commute by the bus, It is a wonderful experience, seeing the whole view of the outside of the bus, and also yo can meet lots of people who will be joining you for a ride.

I would have no trouble getting around Panama, what so ever. I am glad that I now know this information for when it is that I make my leap.

Hi to all.I would suggest that you try public transport when you visit a country, you can always rent a car but however, trying to ride on public transport can make you acquaint your self with the locals as well as with some other tourist like you. It is good meeting new people on your travel. I love to travel and meeting new and nice people. Have a nice day!

It is good to know lots of new people every time you travel and I have to say that it is what makes your travel all worthwhile. And I have to agree that it is worth the try to ride on public transport but as a new comer, would it be hard to try those public transport considering that as a tourist you are not that well aware of the places in the said country?
