Boxing is quite popular...Roberto Duran is from Panama. Baseball great Rod Carew is from Panama as well.

I didn't know that Rod Carew was from Panama! I checked online and found out that he was born in Gatun, Panama and is considered a national hero in Panama.

I'm not too sure about what other sports are popular, but isn't there the Pan-Am Games or something like that?

The Pan American Games are a multi-sport event, held every four years between competitors from all nations of the Americas. The last edition was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the next will be in Guadalajara, Mexico.

For me the best and one of the most famous sport in Panama is sport fishing enjoyed by all ages and all sizes. You just need your rod, reels and bait to start. You can do it on shore or off-shore. You can enjoy this sport all year but best in January through April which usually have a strong population of billfish with black marlin and sailfish available year round. Also dorado in the 50 lb class, wahoo, yellow fin tuna, rooster fish, along with local red snapper and grouper fill out the catch. Fish Hannibal Bank, Coiba Island, Isla Montuosa and more of the many Panamanian Pacific islands from a land-based operation.

I am sure soccer rules in every part of the world. What normally happens is that most countries will have another class of sports that borrow from their traditions.

Other sports like volleyball, basketball and tennis should be popular too.

Infact, some tourists there purely go for the sporting activities
