| The Panamanian Rose Is Fading, Fading.. As for the drop in prices: I personally know someone who told me just a few weeks ago that he wanted to put his house up for sale, had a real estate agent come in to look at the placewho then told him that nothing was selling much above $100, 000. He had thought originally $500, 000, but was given the new reality when he then mentioned $300, 000. This fits in with what Ive heard. Land prices at $35/meter? That must be at the bottom of a ravine; two years ago, friends who were looking in Boquete were quoted $80/meter. They bought, as did friends who left Boquete just before the crash started and others weve heard about, near Panama City. Then again, it could be Branca is quoting what he calls the new reality of the marketthat may be what the price is now. But it has been much, much higher.
