I just read on People.com that Jenna Bush wrote a book about a 17 year old single mother who is infected with HIV. The woman lives in Panama.

Yup I heard about that too... here's a link to the story. It says she wrote it not for political issues, but to help kids be aware of HIV. She is so young, I'm really surprised that she's already writing books so young. Sad thing is, if anyone else would have written this book, it would hardly get noticed ... Kinda like how Dr Phils annoying as heck wife came out with her own book! grrr don't know why that makes me so mad! hahaha *lighten up eh!*

Some of us don't read books... especially not books from politicans... and why when you have the wonderful resources of the Internet (where you can read stuff written by a million little pin heads, not one big one).

You're right Tracey, if it were someone not famous writing this book it would just get lost out there in the world of books, but I think it's great that Jenna is doing this - it will give more awareness for the kids that are affected by HIV and hopefully this will help someone.

I don't believe that Jenna is writing the book for publicity's sake - I do think that she was just struck by this young woman whom she met and it inspired her to write this book. Too many of these people nowadays are writing books just to write them - more money for them, etc. It's refreshing to see that someone as young as her is writing something so meaningful.

I think that she is really into helping people. I admire her for what she is doing. Maybe it can make up for some of the garbage her dad is responsible for.The fact that she gave up her teaching job to go down there and work and now is writing this book to make people aware of the HIV problem I think she deserves our respect.

Well she has certainly gained my respect for what she has done and what she is currently doing. Helping to make people aware of what AIDS is really about and the fact that HIV is not necessarily a death sentence and teaching them that you can be friends with people with AIDS because it is not an air-borne contagion and just shaking hands with someone doesn't mean you with catch it.She is also helping to put a better spin on the Bush name that's for sure. • Page 1 (Original Post) •
