HMOs & insurance I can't figure out how to use this palce. How do I chat with people about healthcare in Panama. PJackson
You just did! But maybe you have a more specific questions or a comment about health care in Panama?
Thanks Jim- I and my wife are contemplating retirement offshore, given the healthcare fiasco in the U.S. among other things. We have made 3 trips to Costa Rica and like it a lot and it has a good healthcare system that we can access at a reasonable price. I am told healthcare is excellent in Panama as well, but it is my impression from what I can find on the internet, which ain't much, that one must have private insurance in Panama, that the national program is not accessible to gringos. I have investigated international health insurnace and its very expensive, most won't cover pre-existing conditions and we don't need world-wide coverage, just coverage in Panama. We intent to sign up and retain Medicare when the time comes in case we need to return to the states. I've read that one can buy into an HMO in Panam for a reasonable price with good coverage, but I can find no information about HMOs in Panama. SO my question is, how do I find good information about insurance or HMOs in Panama? Thanks
I was told that you go to the hospitals and purchase a plan you like there. Dr. bills for visits run the same as deductables here, around $25.00 per visit. Drs also make house calls. Most are educated in the US.
What? It is so hard to read between the lines of these people who can't even speak and express themselves efficiently. Using the English language doesn't always necessary means that you have to use "complicated" words (example: contemplating when you can use thinking or planning), and using so many connectors (example: and, much, or) just say it in the most simpler way possible to avoid being misunderstood. If you are "that" interested I think you should contact a reliable travel agency to answer your inquiries about Panama. Do not rely too much on information of some websites. Try looking for more reliable source and Official Travel websites from Panama.
Drake I guess I'm not to good at reading between the lines because I don't really understand your point or what your trying to say.
Drake touchy touchy. Just because you are dealing with another culture doesn't mean you stop using good grammer. You can pick up a fountain of info on these types of websites. Keep an open mind and research the answers. You don't need a travel agent
