health insurance

Thank author of this post/commentHi,

my husband and I are planning to move to Panama. We are 29 and are wodnerign about health insurance options. We might have the option to stick to our American health insurance which is great but expensive and we have to get reimbursed for each doctors visit in Panama which can be a hassle and time consuming.

We have done some research and there are plenty of international otpions out there but which one can you trust. Can someone recommend a company & plan? We are looking for coverage mostly in Panama but might want to see a doctor in the US or Germany when we go home to visit friends & family. We are looking for something which covers basically everything, or at least everything it alreayd does in the States. When you read those health insurance options it is very confusing and you are always afraid when somethign happens you might not be covered or have to go through a lot of trouble. We just want to feel safe. Any recommendations?

Thanks for any help

Anna

Hi Anna.

Write to me to forlacol@gmail.com I am a licensed insurance broker and I can send you quotes and different products and prices, since you are young and probably don't have pre-existing conditions you qualify for more plans. Do keep in mind that purely international plans are very different than the local co-payment plans - as in they cover things that are more mayor medical (but for those there are plans that cover you 100% in Panama for any hospitalization which is what affects you economically - vs doctor appointments that cost between $35-50 here), but there are new hybrid plans that work in both ways - I can explain all of this.

Having insurance in Panama will save you a lot compared to the US.
