Recommendations for young FamilyHusband and I have been researching a move to CA for sometime now and are concentrating on Panama for several reasons. Other countries we have looked at are CR(seriously) and Belize(minimally. Right now Panama is #1. Some tings I wouldlike some feed back on are: How is the infrastructure specifically getting phone lines and the internet service. internet is imperative for hubby's work. Is internet dial-up, high speed, cable, satellite or all of the above? We have a young son and he is currently attending a Montessori Academy in the U.S. we would either like him to continue at a Montessori or be home schooled therefore location may be of importance, we do not want to live in a congested city, I found a Montessori school atEscuela Montessori de Panama San Francisco, Panama Mailing Address: zona 9 pma, pma. Central America Panama City , 7805 Panama is anybody familiar with the surrounding locations? Could anyone recommend towns or communities near this address that they would suffest to research for us to make a home? We have done a lot of research and next is to spend some time there, it would be helpful to hav an idea as to where to visit regarding our sons needs. In case that we decide to homeschool, any recommendations to areas that are great for a family to consider or areas that we should steer clear of is appreciated. thanks docniss
What is inspiring you to move south? economics? quality of life? politics? adventure? Besides the school and internet what are your main needs? Have you looked at South America? You might find some better infrastructures and different types of problems. One of the big problems here in Brazil is eating way too much excellent beef! In Panama City you should have little problem with high speed internet. Watch out for satellite (its not necessarily fast, unless very expensive and either way you have significant ping times). Outside of Panama City you luck with internet may vary and you should make sure (doubt check, triple check) exactly what is available at a give location (the exact house/apt you want) before you rent/buy.
Cerro azul, 30 minutes from Panama City comes to mind. So is Gatun (old Panama C) seen some one selling a house for 20, 000. Excellent infra structure. But Panama City is the largest city in the country. best bet?...Fly and look around.
