Moving "stuff"

If you have moved from the states to Boquete area, can you tell me...Is it better, less expensive, to ship household items, appliances, furniture, electronics, etc, rather than buy new in Panama? Can anyone give me an idea of the cost to ship a 20foot container, door to door? Has anyone done this? Will a 20ft hold a 3 br house full of "stuff"?Any and all suggestions will be appreciated.

"Moving"

If you have 3 rooms of furniture, it really depends on your "stuff" is it expensive stuff or cheap stuff??? Are you taking a car? We will be moving to Boquete soon and we are shipping a 40 ft container. Door to door is anywhere between 6K and 8K. Depending on your location. Where are you moving from? Also, where in Boquete are you going to be living?

Not knowing your likes and dislikes, do you want expensive things or middle of the road things. Furniture in Panama is of average price. Not cheap, not expensive. So depending on what you have, you might want to purchase down there.

How big of a house are you buying down there, how many rooms do you have to fill? Will you have the funds to purchase slowly once you arrive or do you need to fill all the rooms right away? If you respond to this, I will better have an idea. Also you have to remember, the brands you have here might not be able to be worked on down there. LG if the biggest seller down there. Will wait to hear from you in this forum.

"Moving "stuff""

Dar,

We are kinda the middle of the road, I guess. We have 3br, a living room, den, dining and breakfast room. I don't think it will fill a 20 foot container. Thinking about an auto. Do they charge by the lb or by the container? Shipping from Texas. Doesn't sound like furniture is the expensive item in Panama. The appliances, big and little, look expensive:coffee maker, oven, fridge, freezer etc. Sounds like lots of $$ up front....Don't know exactly where yet. Going there next month to look around. Somewhat the same situation as you, house to sell. If we can make the decision where on this trip, then we decide to build or buy existing. Still seriously thinking about going and renting for 6 mo before the final, final decision.Would like to know why u chose where u did and have lots of other ?? if u have time. Thanks,
