Are there any banks in David affiliated with bank of america.I plan to retire in David in 2007.

Comment #1 Edward from Miami (Contact Member) -

Why do you want a bank affiliate with a U.S. Bank? Those banks are usually much more difficult to deal with and many times won't open accounts for Americans.

Having an account at one of those banks won't make it any easier to transfer money. They do not give you an account which is common to the USA. For example if you have an account at Citibank in the USA and open a Citibank account in another country, you have 2 completely seperate accounts.

I would be interested to know what banks are in David and people's opinion of them.

Banco Nacional does a great job. And Bank of America does very well for me. So is Chase.

whom ever you choose, please make sure they are dealing with other gringo's. and whatever you do, do not use the Credicorp Bank

Why hassle yourself with affiliate banking, Why not just use any International Bank for your monetary needs?

have you tried looking for international banks on line? what are some highly recommended banks?

I always wondered that as well, what is a major bank here in the U.S. that is also international? Like is there one particular bank that you can access all over the world?

Which reminds me of a story I heard of an England international that was stranded in the streets of a certain country because he could not access money through an affiliate bank. Why do most banks employ this policy? Are there some sort of risks at the disposal of the customers or is fraud setting the risky vice?

I am sure if you became a little curious online, you would find the answer. That is close to three years ago and that also signifies a lot of change should have happened. The US$ in Panama city is called the Balbao. Panamian coins are used interchangably with US coins as they are same in size and value. The city is again home to the second largest international banking center in the world after Switzerland. Master Card and Visa, American Express and Diners Club are usually honored in upscale shops.

Isn't it amazing that the Republic of Panama has lived without a Central Bank for a considerable amount of time? This is an example of how a system of market-chosen monetary policy would work in the absence of a central bank.

Interestingly, Panama has not lacked a stable macroeconomic environment.

For this reason, it is upon the banks to act responsibly since there is no such thing as deposit insurance or lender of last resort.

Banking was built on corruption. That being said, Panama's banking system is incredibly awesome. Though some may disapprove of the methods that are used, I really and seriously do understand why they would want to keep their information as private as it possibly can be. The disclosing of a bank account should surely never be, as a person's confidentiality is most important, especially in these times.

Of course though, the reason why certain banks are allowed to have funds that are undeclared, so to speak, is the reason why there is so much corruption in the world anyway, and also the reason why the world is running the way that it is today.

Comment #12 Eve (63.176.159.179) - 12/09/09 14:59

This is why places like Venezuela, under the dictatorship of a man that thinks like Hugo Chavez, would always consider things such as threatening their banks with naturalization, whenever it is that a concern of misuse of banking power is the topic for dicussion.

Comment #13 Eve (63.176.159.13) - 12/16/09 21:24

I would surely consider naturalization if it was that my country's banks were being accused of corruption and inappropriate mishaps.

Comment #14 curtis (63.176.159.121) - 12/29/09 22:57

Now, I can easily agree with plain and boldfaced sense. Any bank that is willing to steal money from its customers should face a pretty harsh penalty. Naturalization is perfect for such an offense, and though Chavez may be a power hungry dictator, he surely has very much an inspiring personality.

Comment #15 smithy (63.176.159.10) - 01/25/10 19:56

well said curtis, well said.. there should be nothing against his actions.

Comment #16 Gill (109.111.97.50) - 03/02/10 15:28

Well said...we should go back to the shoe box under the bed. Can´t trust most banks. Once they have your money, forget it!

Run the other way.
