Why Puerto Armuelles, Panama? What are your desires and how does Puerto Armuelles fit into them? You want to buy a house first? Why not rent, get settles and your other needs worked out while you search for a house?
Hank

Hank: Thanks for the reply. The reason for Puerto is that I wanted a small city away from heavy tourist traffic close to the mtns as well as the ocean. You are probably right about rental . I just didn"t think about it. Are rental houses availabe? Hank , you have been very helpful. That is why I posted . Glenn

Glenn, yes there are rental houses available all over Panama, you just have to know where to look or who to ask, although you might want to consider the purchasing side of it since everything in Panama is going up in Price if you decide to sell the property in the near future you will still make a profit off of it.if you have any further questions feel free to e-mail me

How far is Puerto Armuelles from the Costa Rican border? I haven't been able to find a detailed enough map to get an accurate distance.I am concerned with the 12K law about non Panamaians owning land on the border.
Thanks

I am going to retire to Panama. Need to know what I have to do to bring a small woodworking business with me. What would import taxes and duties be on my machinery (table saw, joiner, planer, shaper, etc.)? I make outdoor furniture (as a hobby).

12K law?Thast a new one to me. If you in Panama, you own the land, except in protected areas.
Maybe some one got a better idea on what is he taling about?
Puerto is about 45 minutes from the border with costa rica. (any one got a milage number?)

How lovely it would be to live on the water in Panama! What are typical home prices there? Rent? Is it a lot more expensive to live on the beach?

Hello. Does any one have information about the BIG oil refinery to be built in Puerto Armuelles? Does any one have the exact location? Which side of the bay is it going to be built on? The trade promotion agreement (TPA) guaranties fare market price for US investors in the case of an expropriation. Is there any chance to get reasonable compensation for a small piece of land in Panama when expropriated by a 7 billion dollars national priority project? Tanks for you help.

Bought a home in the Las Palmas area of Puerto Armuelles last year. Love it. As the crow flies, it is a matter of just a few miles to Costa Rica. If you go thru the checkpoint at the frontera it will take you about half an hour by car. David is about an hour and a half by car.For the most part, the locals are favoring the refinery as it will take up some of the economic slack that the departure of United Fruit Company caused. My sense is that the refinery will be built on the ula road south of the city. I have not heard of an exact location.
Lynda: c'mon down! Get ahold of Bethany Strong for trustworthy real estate info. She is my neighbor in Puerto Armuelles.
